Alexis Silk, one of the very few female glassblowers working in Murano, the home of Italian glassmaking. She is a renowned glass artist, studied at top institutions like Pilchuck Glass School and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Initially passionate about sculpture, she later discovered glassblowing and honed her skills with artists like Jerry Catania and Boyd Sugiki and Pino Signoretto After earning her BFA in 2005, she founded Noga Silk Art Glass, later continuing independently under her own name.
Her work focuses on the human form, blending anatomy with hot glass techniques to create figurative sculptures. She explores themes of human nature, objectification, body stereotypes, sexuality, nature and connection between all humans. Alexis’s work, often incorporating metal frames and industrial elements (mounting hook), is exhibited in galleries, museums, and private collections nationwide and internationally.
